Dr. Şükrü Bozluolçay's art collection, developed over nearly forty years, encompasses classical, modern, and contemporary artworks from the 19th century to the present. The book titled "Hayal Fanusu: Dr. Şükrü Bozluolçay Koleksiyonu," written by art historian Dr. Özlem İnay Erten and published by Bozlu Sanat Yayınları, explores the chronological development of Turkish art through the works in the collection, offering a comprehensive perspective on our art history.
Starting with the generation of Military Painters, which provided the first examples of canvas painting in Turkey, Dr. Şükrü Bozluolçay's collection extends from the Constitutional period to the artists of the 1914 Generation who played a significant role in the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic. It then traces the formations such as the Independents and the d Group, reaching the art movements of the 1950s and 1960s like the Paris School and the 1968 Generation, and progressing to the works of contemporary artists. The diverse structure of the collection not only reflects cultural, artistic, and social changes, as well as new forms of expression and intellectual developments throughout history but also opens a door to the values of the future through its inclusion of contemporary art productions.
As a result of the book, the Bozlu Art Project Mongeri Building hosts the exhibition titled "Hayal Fanusu: Dr. Şükrü Bozluolçay Koleksiyonu" from January 12 to March 26, 2022. In this exhibition, art enthusiasts can witness a comprehensive display of classical, modern, and contemporary artworks from the 19th century to the present, featuring iconic works that have left their mark on our art history, along with examples from Dr. Şükrü Bozluolçay's "Sanatçı Atölyeleri Koleksiyonu" (Artists' Studios Collection).
