We imagined a city and built it. Is that all, or is it just an idea? We walked these streets, found our way home; getting lost was easy, but we recognized the wall with graffiti, turned left and then right (multiple times), and there it was.
This book, stripped of all clues about where we are, shows a city without any people or language. Yet, there are hints of life: vegetation and, of course, construction sites. Some questions to ask yourself: Where is this? Which city? Can this even be considered a city?
Wandering in an unacquainted space with a discerning eye, disconnected familiar scenes and objects, all come together to deceive you, to make you forget the way home. This is Istanbul as a city idea living in our minds. That's it.
