The Bozlu Art Project Mongeri Building hosts an exhibition dedicated to the life and works of Neş'e Erdok, one of the prominent representatives of figurative art in Turkey. The exhibition is prepared in conjunction with the book titled "Time Bird: The Life and Art of Neş'e Erdok," written by Oğuz Erten. Taking place from April 3 to June 9, 2018, the "Time Bird" exhibition features a broad selection of the artist's works spanning from the 1970s to the present.
The historic Mongeri Building in Şişli, where the Bozlu Art Project collection is displayed and art research activities are conducted, opens its doors to art enthusiasts with the release of the book "Time Bird: The Life and Art of Neş'e Erdok" from Bozlu Sanat Yayınları. Emphasizing the importance of monographic studies on artists who hold key positions in Turkey's art history, the book stands out as the most comprehensive work to date on an artist remembered for both her role as an educator and her memorable paintings.
The first volume of the book, written by Oğuz Erten after nearly three years of research and interviews with Neş'e Erdok, focuses on the artist's childhood, family, education at the Academy (now Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University), and her thirty-five years of teaching at the Academy. Sections covering Erdok's thematic series such as "Sultanate," "Street Sellers," "Crime and Punishment," "Night Journey," and "Gölköy" propose a new interpretation by delving into the underlying thoughts behind her paintings, influenced by writers, poets, painters, social events, and personalities. The second volume of the book, presented in a retrospective manner, encompasses Neş'e Erdok's entire collection of paintings and drawings, obtained through her personal archive, interviews with collectors, and extensive research.
